Oh, of course - it does to me also, now that you point it out. Thanks!

Reminds me of Hollyhock.

If succeeding civilizations don’t raze it or part it out to build something else, that is. Maybe it’s like the remarkable ruins in Paestum. Those survived because they were overgrown and lost in the jungle for 2000 years so no one knew they were available for salvage.

Oh, well of course. It must have been the town zoo at one point.

Or maybe Giraffes?

If you build it really well it will last.

Getting up and out of the trees sure helps, alright. I really love these wide open vistas. Here, southern Utah, eastern Oregon - they’re all my favorite places.

Honeywort! How great. I’ve never heard of it.

Unable to find an image match, but the flower shape puts me in mind of heath.

I agree. All I knew was it looked like a parasitic plant. Lots of pictures of broomrape, and many kinds in Spain.

Somehow you guys make every tour seem even more beautiful than your previous one. I think I've discovered your secret: You climb up into the mountains--above the viewblockers--and take pictures of the sea and towns and cities down below. Very sneaky . . . and nobody does it better.

I think Andrea’s right here, based on habitat. Not too snowy here right now, and I couldn’t find any references to snowflowers in Sicily. I did find one photo on Flickr of orobanche variegata, actually taken in Zingaro. It looked just like this. I think it must be pretty uncommon though.

I think it’s one of the orobanches, or broomrape. We better ask Scott.

Good luck with the lists and organization. We try to be diligent about that too, but nothing ever seems to be quite bulletproof. We have the same issues returning home also. You’d think it would be easier now that we have fewer things to keep track of in just our storage unit, but we still end up misplacing things.
