Hmmm... I don't know much about the geology in Europe - a little bit about Scotland because it is the birthplace of the science, but I'd need to do some reading to get caught up on what was happening in the different periods in Europe.
5 years agoActually, we don’t need coffee since there is an espresso machines with lots of pods of coffee. It’s delicious! Although it only has 1 bedroom not 2.
5 years agoGreat! Bring coffee. Serbian, if you can get your hands on some.
5 years agoWhat a coincidence! We were thinking of spending a few months in Syracuse so this will work out perfectly if you rent it for a few months. Of course we would cook dinner for you once in a while.
5 years agoThis has got to be a former quarry don't you think?
5 years agoThanks for the comment. I’ll make sure Rachael sees this. She hates it when I do this, and wants m to show her the image before I messed it up.
5 years agoSkull and cross bones. Good choice to post it in black and white!
5 years agoBetween you on the geology and Bill Shaneyfelt on the botany I think there could be a real “ology” tour for the intersection of cycle/science nerds.
5 years agoThey are! And very cute ones too.
5 years agoAntirrhinum, snapdragons!
5 years agoThanks for following along, Em! Squiggly line roads is exactly right. I think there’s a lot you would like here, including the fascinating geology. Whatever is going on with my health just feels like an annoyance at this point - energy is a bit low, not much appetite. Not much reason to complain, really.
5 years agoLooks like maybe snapdragons.

I've been following along and enjoying your journey so far. Looks like you have been finding lots of good squiggly line roads. Hope you start feeling better with no more nausea and SVT episodes - how annoying and unnerving. All the best!
5 years agoI find it interesting how people differ from country to country, culture to culture. In Laos I know their inclination would be to leave this tree right where it fell forever, except, they would want the firewood so badly that they would remove it pretty quickly. In Germany, even in the middle of nowhere and no one needing the firewood, someone would remove this tree from the road immediately simply because it shouldn't be there.

Oh, you could pick it up pretty quickly, I think. It’s all pretty standard stuff. Mountains, canyons, all the usual suspects. The Alps are big, so you might start there.
