Wouldn't that be something if GBO hitched a ride in another cycle tourist's pannier .. only to show up at a gathering with his long lost guardians, Scott and Rachael?!
5 years agoIt was great, and new to us also. My only regret was that the GBO couldn’t be here to appreciate it. Maybe he’s following along though and will reconsider and decide to hop aboard again someday.
5 years agoIt looks like a trawler of some kind, alright. I found a photo of another boat like this, which called it a peschereccio: a fishing boat. Not that helpful, really.
5 years agoNot quite sure. Some kind of a fishing boat with what looks like to be a bow trawler or a bow rigged scoop net.
5 years agoPalm Trees. Doesn't look like a coconut palm as I don't see any fruit clusters at the top.
5 years agoNice to see that the flamingo has just the right tool for the job.
Flamingo Ear Worms .. sounds like the title to a Weird Al Yankovic song.
Cool! I've never seen a salt truck before.
Always interesting to see how things work.
Sorry about the headwinds but glad I could help.
5 years agoThanks Rachael for the song ‘ride like the wind’from your video. Today we had to ride into 30-45 km winds and your song was a great help! I am finally free of Amore!
5 years agoI own a Bike Friday as well and I can tell everyone who has never ridden one that there is no way to hold a fully loaded Bike Friday upright by squeezing your legs against the center bar. It's too low. It's a center of gravity thing. I've sustained injuries trying to do it and now, finally having learned, I never try anymore. So, I empathize with Rachael.
5 years agoWas this a tourist destination before Domenico? Can’t help but wonder...
5 years agoI bought Al a Miyata 1000LT in 1992, after he passed his BCLS exams. He selected it, but years later he said he should have gone with a smaller frame. Fast-forward many years and he has a new touring/commuter bike. Our older son laid claim to the Miyata. I worried that it was too big for him, but on a family trip to Victoria, I caught up to him, straddling the bike and tying his shoe. He’s taller than Al, and rides it still.
5 years agoYeah, yeah, yeah. I know everyone is younger than me. Thanks for the reminder though.
5 years agoGreat song !!! Haven’t heard it in years. By my calculation I would have been 10 years old when I first heard it.

Stranger things have happened. I’m holding out hope that his hot new partner will dump him when she realizes he is without resources and can’t get her an American passport. He’ll come around whining to be let back into the toolbag one of these days, I’m sure.
