That’s so funny. I missed this response somehow, but have been thinking of your previous one for awhile wondering if you were scoping out a possible trip to Puglia. I finally got around to opening this up and ask you but see I already have the answer.

I wonder if there’s any chance we’ll overlap? We’re going to be in Puglia and Basilicata for about four weeks next spring after we leave Sicily, but possibly earlier than you. Yes, he is indeed. I see the other woman is holding his other leg so he doesn't get away. Anyway, not to focus on Modugno... we will be cycling Puglia, Basilicata area next May so I am enjoying every minute as I re-read this journal. We are both excited about the trip... and, we will be riding new Fridays!

It is all so strange, and so painful to look at from afar. I wonder how long it will be before it’s possible to tour there in the same way again, if ever; or if we’ll still have the legs for it when the time comes. We’ve had plans and still have our bookings for a tour of the Sunshine Coast this July, but even that looks quite unlikely now.

We’ve both been so fortunate for the opportunities we’ve had, haven’t we? Carpe diem!

Now, almost a year later, we watched the Pope in an empty St. Peters. So weird, but we could really see the beautiful floors clearly with no crowds on them.

Oh, that’s so great! What a good thing to know. I’ve never heard of this instrument. Great story about its development too. Thanks so much for identifying it for us.

And thanks for journaling your tour! I’ve been following it with great interest, especially the past week. We’re planning to end in Rome for next autumns tour, and I’m taking notes. We had planned to bike through Ariana and Benevente ourselves last year until we decided to reroute through the Gargano.

The fellow pantomining playing the 'saw' is actually playing a theremin. A version of this instrument is played by the Beach Boys in 'Good Vibrations '. It is also played in most cheesy Sci fi movies! We saw a similarly aged fellow playing one in Brataslava a few years back. We will have compare pictures, maybe it's the same guy.😉.
