Hope you can try these Central Otago Trails one day Rachael. Hopefully they may eventually all link up so that it would be possible to catch the scenic train from Dunedin (when it’s running again) to Middlemarch and cycle the various trails, finishing at Queenstown!
3 years agoSounds like you had a wonderful trip. We are hoping to do a bicycle tour of New Zealand again soon. Our one an only bicycle tour there was 30 years ago!

3 years agoHi there Ann and Michael
Have just read your full journal, a great read. Thanks for putting all the useful information in re accommodation and the Roxborough Trail, I’m not that great on heights ....your photos are useful.
Looking forward to following in your footsteps, hopefully next summer
Cheers
Sandy
Flatulent rhino indeed ... ha!
3 years agoWow. I would have been walking my bike where requested as well! This is being added to my bucket list rides when we can travel again. I am loving your blog. Thanks for making the effort.
3 years agoWhat a day - what a ride - what a lot of contrasts. Whew. Wonderful.
3 years agoWhat a blow Tricia! Hope your recovery is in full swing and you are comfortable. Your fitness will help I’m sure.
We are fortunate to have got away before levels changed. There are big groups on the ORT, many Aucklanders. It is a good ride. Love the landscape and skies. Ann
Great to have a new journal to read! Our first overseas trip was to New Zealand. I had a good laugh about your comment about coffee. We’ve been having the same experience lately. I can’t wait to go back to Italy and France where you get great coffee!
3 years agoGreat to read that you are off again. I am sure you will have lots of fun. we were meant to go south to ride in Otago in early feb but unfortunately I fell and broke the neck of my Femur so that of course has put paid to any such activities.
Tricia
So nice to be able to follow you again. What a great trip. I had no idea how beautiful that area is.
