That’s a lot of potential energy being converted to kinetic and back! Looks like an interesting route with lots of tradition. I hope you are enjoying yourself as much as you appear to be!
1 year agoWhat a climb today! Glad you were able to see the Cookie Lady’s home. She is an inspiration to extend kindness ❤️
1 year agoHey Dave - talked to Beth and she told us you were battling the rain today! Way to push through!!
Stay strong and safe - we love you and can't wait to hear more about your adventure! All good here in RachaCha!

I love following your journey and wish I was cycling alongside! Why does it look so easy?
1 year agoWow.
Tough day. Lots of hills. Vicious dog and a half. Rain. And 76 miles. Hoping for a simple Saturday and some peach cobbler.
Looks like it’s gonna get hillier. Take your time going up and down. This ain’t no race.
Great progress so far Dave! BTW we drove route 36 thru Kansas and some of Missouri , nice wide shoulders and road was in good shape. Mind you, there may have been a touch of wind! The Uneasy Riders are with you in spirit!
1 year agoThat made me laugh
I will return the bike when I finish my ride
Hey. That’s my bike. It was stolen 15 years ago and I always wondered where it ended up.
1 year agoIt's apparently a protest to stop a giant new development of cookie-cutter tract houses in Varina. Short Pump is a town in the area that has already been ruined (in the opinion of these Varina residents) by development.
I've seen similar signs on every bike tour I've ever done. A lot of the time the signs protest construction of landfills, hog farms, etc. etc.

1 year agoSo happy you are on your way! Great pics, Dave.
1 year agoBest of luck Dave and it looks like you're already having fun.
Enjoy the journey to its fullest.
I'll be following along on PyschoBlaze!
And the saga begins. What a great first day. You are doing it!
Thrilled for you!
May the downhills be longer than the uphills,
the wind ever behind you,
and the rains only falling at night.
But, if that doesn't happen, may your deep, honest laughter bring a smile no matter what.
Looks like fair weather for the launch! Nice to get a couple days in the saddle without too much heat or rain. We celebrate you!!
