You both look great! It's awesome to see you back on the road.
6 months agoGo Dad! Seems like a great first day back.
6 months agoAwesome info, bro.
6 months agoYou've probably already heard this, but the First Baptist Church in Sebree is one of the nicest free places to stay on The TransAmerica Trail.
Sebree would be about the right distance as a destination tomorrow, if you're at Rough River Dam tonight.
Also, I've heard that the fire station in Utica no longer allows touring cyclists to stay there.
Finally, the church in Marion allows touring cyclists to stay inside, and there's a shower.
I live in the area (in Henderson), so if you need anything while you're in the area, let me know.
Well done! Well done!!
52 miles in the rain. Whew. Looks like the knee and everything else was up to the task. Congratulations. You are finally all the way back!
Tomorrow looks like a warm day of passing showers. Enjoy the open road, the victory of your return, and the people you meet.
Way to go Dave - less than a year! That is AMAZING!

6 months agoDave, routing for you. I'd say good luck, but you don't need much luck: you have the tools and the talent.
6 months agoRich,
Just read through a few of your journals and your tandem rides with Robin are a delight. I have met two tandem riders on my journeys. One was on the GAP trail in Pennsylvania. The couple had ridden from the Olympic peninsula in Washington across the country and had planned on going to DC then heading south to Miami. The second couple I met within the two weeks last summer where I attempted to cross the country. I kept in touch with them and they made it to Astoria, OR in August. Keep riding and enjoying yourselves
Keith, good to hear from you and thanks for the kind words
8 months agoGood for you! It’s not a small thing to pick up the voyage again after what you’ve been through. I admire your dedication!
8 months agoDave- I'm glad to read this upbeat news. You're clearly determined to "git 'er done"; kudos to you for doing the work needed to get back on the horse.

Congratulations on your return! I'll follow along with you and relive some of my own memories from 2015 on the Transam. In addition to the hostels Jeff mentioned, there are several hostels coming up in Missouri that you may want to take advantage of - Farmington (Al's Place) in particular is quite nice. Best of luck with the adventure,
