Awesome.
But… you know mountains.
They like to stare down at you, sneering, and quietly challenging you with, “So, you think you got what it takes, huh? Well, we’ll see about that. I ain’t going anywhere. Bring it on.”
You'll do fine.
You can’t be stopped.
I feel great and encouraged
My body is responding how I want it to given the relentless daily exercise
Rockies will be a good test
From all appearances you are doing great! I’m a bit worried about severe heat or storms that might catch you between towns/shelter. But so far, so good. People seem nice.
How do you feel?
Strong?
Happy?
Alone?
Encouraged? Or discouraged?
Something else?
Enquiring minds want to know.
Appropriate.
5 months agoDid you see any wildlife?
Or was it their day off?
I mean, if you’re going to set aside 22,000 acres for a wildlife refuge you probably want some wildlife living there… taking refuge from whatever they were bothered by. Right?

What date are you thinking about leaving DC?
Yeah, that's pretty small. You are getting there. With luck, I'm just about a month behind you. Keep on rollin'.

“But Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man… That he didn't, didn't already have.”
You’re all heart, bruh.
Keep on Truckin'
Love you, Gary & Chris
Nice tip of the cap to Mr. Seger. I feel ya, bro, and that’s why this is the adventure of a lifetime. You are living a dream.
5 months agoYikes - the store in Cassoday being closed is a real bummer! When I rode this section in 2015 that store was the only food stop, it would have been tough without it. Good thing you knew ahead of time that it was closed.

5 months agoThe wild frontier still exists. Can't wait to see what Wyoming feels like to ya. The Chief Washakie Trail looks pretty remote. Maybe a team of horses and a prairie schooner would be a good way to travel, after all. Can you carry enough food and water to span the gaps?
5 months agoDon’t forget about the flying monkeys too!

FYI, you linked to the wrong map for this day. Don't worry about the Rockies, they are not nearly as hard as the Appalachians or Ozarks - you may climb for 20 miles, but it's a gentle grade and becomes a moderately steeper grade only for the last couple of miles - and then you get a 20-mile downhill run!
