Gusty winds are straight line winds that can vary greatly in velocity, causing you to speed up and slow down (or swerve) as the wind varies. No change in direction.
5 months agoWind currents are winds directed by buildings, etc and can jerk you around different directions.
5 months agoNow you have to make a trip to western Kansas
5 months agoThanks, Dave! (I assume you mean me ♥️)
There is a barn quilt trail on LeRoy, NY - a town I know you’re familiar with. I have yet to ride (i.e. drive) around and view them. Feeling like quite a slacker, here!
Looks like a steady uphill gain while ascending to the Colorado plains.

5 months agoGood Evening Dave. I ride off into the sunrise from DC this Saturday, June 15th. Enjoy the pie, and keep on rollin'.
5 months agoLove pie, thanks for the tip
5 months agoI bicycled from Pueblo CO to Kansas City last year. I encountered wicked headwinds - one day 18 mph for hours. I hope you have the tailwinds I never did! When you hit Colorado make sure to stop at Lynette's Sugar City Cafe in Sugar City for a slice of pie.

5 months agoMy one-and-only visit to Ness City was on BAK, in either 2004 0r 2006 (I've done it twice, don't remember which one took me to Ness...)
BAK is a great event.
