Tide pools are so interesting! All kinds of shore critters like anemone, crabs, fish, starfish, urchins, and on and on. Once in college, a friend and I visited tide pools at Cabrillo Beach in CA and found an octopus!

Just something I learned as a kid. Only took a minute to look up a good website reference. That rarely happens!

They are so cool, and were so unimpressed with all the tourists!

Nice! It is some species of anole, but from the photo, I can't tell which of the approximately 6 species found in the area it might be.

I was going to say .. If you think *Tulum* is touristy .... Never been there, but just looking at the map, you're getting closer and closer to Cancun! Plus, prices will seem exorbitant. Get yourself over to Cuba and back to the good life.
So glad you're having such a great time, can't wait to hear about cuba!

When we came down from Cancun and hit Tulum, it seemed that the tourists changed from the type you describe (beachy resort, perfect tan, sunkist) to grizzled, backpacking, travelling Central America types. So if Tulum looks beachy (maybe its the exact time of year), brace for conditions further north, along the coast.

Your bank card story is one I have told more than once to the uncaring agents on the end of the CIBC and Mastercard phone lines. I dramatically portray being stranded, peso-less, and hungry out on some dusty Mexican road, all because their computer decided it was weird that I should be out on some dusty Mexican road. The "best" was when they blocked my U.S. dollar credit card because they could not understand what I was doing trying to use it to get U.S. dollars, in the U.S. They also like to say "Just phone us and we'll clear it up" or "Why didn't you reply to our text?". That's when you say, "Remember, dusty Mexican road in the middle of nowhere". But, they don't care!

We’ll, rats - Bill beat me to one I knew for a change. They must like pyramids. The only place I’ve ever seen them was in Tikal, wandering by the dozen around the base of those amazing ruins.

You are correct! It is an ocellated turkey... Learning something every day. Someday maybe I can identify stuff on sight... if only I could remember what I have looked up!
