I love seeing a tree that makes an automobile look unimportant.
4 years agoI think you’d find the Bogyoke a very interesting historical figure. He is revered in Myanmar but never got to help it realize it’s potential.
4 years agoThat must be a winter portrait right? The coat looks somewhat Cossack or North Korean. Still, you'd have to be careful with him watching over you.

It kind of reminds me of a Bavarian Chalet...except for the minaret thing.
It would be so much fun to have a huge spool of rope like that.
4 years agoOh, insecurities are very present in my head, thank you very much. But we have found that in Myanmar that baffling situations are generally just fine, unless they involve sketchy bridges or food.
4 years agoThat cave tour experience, especially the silent boat ride part, was truly like something I would only expect to see in a dream.
I would say that anyone who can enjoy understanding only 0.005% has been freed from insecurities!
I hate to think of the backpackers missing out on smiles like these! Hopefully they'll look up from their phones once in a while.

4 years agoWhat you said about the decaying historic buildings in Mawlamyine makes me think of a film I saw that had recordings of birds that are now extinct.
I hope that some of the incredible places you've seen get added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.
But for those that don't, I'm grateful for the images and descriptions that you've preserved.
I don't know what is involved in adding sites to to the UNESCO list, but I'm surprised to see so few sites in Myanmar.
They must have sensed that she will soon be a Grandma!
