Is it really new .. or does the owner just clean it after each use?
3 years agoDames rocket is a very common invasive. It is quite lovely though, and also edible if you get hungry. Not bad tasting. Flowers are sort of sweet and leaves have the typical mustard family flavor.

The Feeshko and I stopped and ate at the Abbey Cafe about ten years ago while on our way to Michigan. It was just as lackluster then as it appears to be now.
I too have always thought Wisconsin's use of letters for their highways was kind of strange. F, M, E, and FF are some of the roads I ride when I'm on that side of the St. Croix River. I've also ridden on Q and QQ. I like all letters of the alphabet, but for some reason I've recently become less of a "Q" fan.
You’re right, Kelly. We were really lucky. The Raven was the only likely candidate we saw within driving distance of Tucson, and it was right at the same dealership I’d taken the Jetta to. Kismet.
3 years agoSpeaking of used cars - you bought the Raven just in time, with all of the COVID shortages. A friend in Brians Head, Ut said he spoke with a fellow whose 2018 Ford F-150's engine needed replaced under warranty. six months. No problem, they would just turn it in and get a new truck. They made the trek to St. George to the dealership. There were four new trucks to choose from. Four. Jacinto said that's plenty - they only wanted one!
3 years agoThat looks like an old movie theatre. A little google research showed it closed in 2013 . . . . they probably couldn't afford the change to digital. That's a guess. I couldn't find much info.

3 years agoOr Bruce could stick him to the back of the gong with some chewing gum to dampen the buzz out.
3 years agoSeveral years back, some young guys annually went to Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for a week of canoe/fish/camping and convinced me to go along for 6 of them. A 17 hour drive from Dayton, OH swapping out drivers a few times. We always stopped at Fat Boy's for pizza on the way home.
Memories!
Ten bucks for a haircut or book ..
Such a deal, makes me feel like a crook
For twenty, get the two ..
Entertainment and a do!
Now no one will think I'm a mook!
Brilliant!! I never would have thought of this combination.

3 years agoI can imagine that the GBO was hungry after riding (in the pannier) all those miles. So he probably felt some relief standing next to a big sausage patty.
And, hey, I just realized that we didn't get to see GBO during your stay(!)
I think he should act as the microphone at the next gong ceremony.
The timing didn't end up working out to meet up with them .. too bad! I think it ended up that they were 3 days behind us.

Those cows look pretty calm and interested.
3 years agoThe cows in ND ran away when they saw us coming.
I recommend whistling Slim Whitman's Lonesome Cattle Call when you ride past cows. Even if they don't like it, it adds dimension to a sometimes-monotonous landscape.
