Rachel and Patrick Hugens commented on a map in The Lake Itasca Trail

Hi Rachael,
Thanks for this map! Once we reach Grand Forks, we plan on going to Mississippi Headwaters and then the Paul Bunyan Trail.
How are the bugs?

Burgers mixed with cherries? Mmm-mm! Sounds even better than the burger with peanut butter, jelly and a fried egg I heard of recently.

Pretty perfect alright. Unfortunately most of the time the lake is a beach house away, visible through the trees. Stretches like this one are amazing.

This is my dream road: One of the Great Lakes on one side, no traffic and forest on the other side. Now, only if this road, so close to the shoreline, circled all five Great Lakes I would have been there riding, I'd be there riding and I will be there riding again.

Cool house, Scott! When you get up into Door County be sure to go to the Door Penninsula Winery and taste their chocolate cherry wine (if you like sweet wines). It's wonderful! When we were in Door County we also enjoyed hotdogs and burgers mixed with cherries. Cherries are a huge Michigan crop. You can get all sorts of foods mixed with cherries from salsa to tea. I was going to direct you to this dairy/creamery in the middle of the penninsula but it looks like it's closed down. Too bad as the ice cream was really good.

The two of you had a much more difficult tour!! But we’re older and growing older by the minute.

You made it look like such fun that we had to see for ourselves. We’ve seen now. That’s enough.

Yes, Washington Island is coming right up. We’re spending the next two nights at Gills Rock at the north end of the peninsula, and biking Washington Island on a day trip from there Monday.

That meal was at the Captain’s Galley Room. It’s a breakfast/lunch place, and very nice - we had breakfast there the next morning. It’s attached to North Water Bakery, which Rachael said was excellent.

67 was quite comfortable, but tempted me to add a layer for the first time since arriving in Minneapolis. It was sunny and a bit warmer today, but still pleasant. And yes, health is fine, back to normal.

Are you visiting Washington Island? Marilyn says it isn't to be missed. They did a day ride over. I think we are missing it, to her disappointment.

Jacinto wants to know the name of the cafe in Algoma - he likes the idea of a $6.95 lunch special. He also wants to know if you were cold - 67 degrees sounds like tights weather to him. It doesn't matter I told him how hot you've been the last several days . . .

You must have taken your meds this morning and had an uneventful day from that perspective?

Kelly
