I like the mood of this shot. Makes me want to spend a few days there.

Oh, no! I didn’t know that was here. We didn’t bike into the interior of the island, and missed it. It does seem like a place to return to though, so maybe we’ll get another chance some day.

Pretty amazing. Oddly, none of these looks quite right.

Just lovely! Was this along the road? I see that you maybe missed visiting the Norwegian Stavkirke that was located on the island?

I'd guess turkey vultures.

Wow! Who knew? There are about 60 different species of ferns there!

With some careful study, one might be able to narrow it down to a dozen or so...

Oh. Anchors.

I would guess they anchor the ropes, nets, buoys into the bottom of the lake.

Where there are reeds like these the water is five feet deep at the most and usually a lot less.

It's quite a sensation when a photo stirs something deep inside that screams, 'My Childhood'. This may be a mundane photo to some people but to me it is very special.

I don't know much about pelicans, but this trusted website has some pictures with similar feathering on the head.

Scott Anderson replied to a comment by Rachel and Patrick Hugens on a map in The Lake Itasca Trail

Hi there! Scott here. Rachael has had one, possibly two skeeter bites after almost two weeks on the road, and I’m still waiting for my first one. The humidity and heat have been an issue, but the varmints haven’t been out at all. Maybe we’re coming through right in the sweet spot.

Hi Rachael and Scott,
From Durand we are dropping down to pick up 4 rail to trails then up to to catch the ferry to Ludington and looks like your route in Michigan on this map. If we run out of time, may check your route closer!
