I was brought up Catholic but, to my parents' dismay, it didn't stick. I was wondering if this was a specified punishment for something so did a Google search. Yeah, it's gruesome!
4 years agoYou’re obviously more up on Catholic myths and references than I am. Either way, it’s pretty gruesome.

4 years agoI rather hope they are all depictions of the martyrdom of Saint Agatha and this wasn't "the usual punishment" for some common transgression.
4 years agoNot quite all the locals--these might be fishermen not fishing, but I wouldn't be surprised if every one of them had a wife at home cooking as they watch the waves.

4 years agoI definitely recommend Andulasia and Almería especially at this time of year. The weather, scenery and mostly quiet roads are wonderful! We’ve done a lot of bicycle touring and this is some of the most spectacular scenery we’ve seen anywhere. We are definitely coming back sometime.
4 years agoJust discovered your journal while researching for our trip to Italy next spring. I am looking forward to reading the whole thing from the beginning!
4 years agoGaspé! That’s our plan for late next summer. Perhaps we’ll cross paths there and can buy each other a round. Cheers, enjoy the winter.
4 years agoHi Ken,
Thanks for reading along and also thanks for pointing us to Scot and Racheal's journal from this spring. It played a big part in our trip planning! If you need a place to stay in Canmore when you start the GD next summer you're more than welcome to pitch up with us if we are around. Stay in touch.
Regards,
Kirsten & Lyle
Hello Lyle and Kirsten
Ken from Kamloops here. We loved the photos and the Canadian humour of the “91/2 weeks” blog. Great Job and it was nice to have you on the CycleBlaze site. You may see us in Canmore next July when we start the Great Divide route. Cheers K and J
Glad you made it back okay!
4 years agoThanks Angela,

That would fall into the ‘old dogs, new tricks’ bucket.
4 years agoI think I successfully ‘photoshopped’ a pic about 18 years ago. Took me almost a full day!
