Yelling yahoos... Yup... I can't hear well anyway, and when someone yells anything at me, I wave enthusiastically and grin like they had just tossed me a $20 bill. Probably more effective than screaming obscenities and firing a finger the way most of the guys seem to respond.
1 year agoSandy, are you home? Inquiring minds want to know!
1 year agoYou have not posted in a few days now and that is unlike you. I hope your are just taking some down time and enjoying where you are. But I have been just a touch concerned.
1 year agoScott is correct. It looks like probably a western spotted orb weaver.

With its web on milkweed seed pods and blackberry briars.
A garden spider of some kind, probably an orb weaver. There are over 3,000 species of orb weavers worldwide and they’re not my specialty so that’s as far as I can take it. Bill will probably know.
1 year agoYes and Henry makes quite a ruckus! You’ll have to come to Lummi Island and Peter will make you bean soup. Or the next time we’re camping near Milwaukee!
1 year agoI’ll be home Sunday. Peter’s going home on Saturday. We couldn’t get a camping spot in shooting fistic home but I can camp at a state park as a cyclist.
Peter’s soup was so good! If you ever come visit me, I’ll ask him to make it for you.
Ed- you have family all along my route. They live in beautiful places. Have fun with your kids and grandkids!
1 year agoWe are still on our little journey and camping is not allowing much wifi strength. So I am not able to see all your photos for read most of your post. Therefore, I will pick it up and finish your journey after we have finished ours this next weekend. You are doing, and have done an awesome trip and I only wish I could have such a bike tour. Until later — adieu until then.
1 year agoWhat amazing memories you are making! Having Peter and Henry as your welcome home greeters brings a smile to my face. Im sure it cheers you up after a hard day of riding. I wonder if I ask Mr Hornik if he would make me some bean soup. Peters looks delicious!
1 year agoThat soup looks delicious!
You’re almost home. Maybe another week?
You were close to my niece's home here.
1 year agoSo true. You get a lot more detail and sensory input on a bike. You’re lucky if you smell honeysuckle or lodge pole pines in a car. And you don’t hear the birds or the cows or the crickets or the frogs.
1 year agoThanks for straightening that out for me!
