A late reply to your helpful comment- thanks for the tip! Still bumbling around the site. And yes, if you and Rachel are up our way, let me know!

I did not realize how often your route is on the road. Not my fav thing. Anymore.

I love the open spaces, this makes me feel both calm and energized.

I love this segment, Sandy. All the tiny towns. How better could they be appreciated than rolling though on a bicycle…

Maybe coast-to-coast cyclists are the only people who come to Quaker City?

…and then there’s the panniers

Wow. What a memorable West VA moment!

When Sue C and I rode the Katy Trail, we were rescued too!! (for my unfixable flat and a bridge over the Missouri R that was under serious construction)

This picture brings back memories! Our rescuer was a kind NAPA driver who loaded our bikes into his truck, drove us over the bridge-of-death, and right to a bike shop.

I imagine there are many similar stories. Adventure cycling is fertile ground for cultivating humility and experiencing the kindness of strangers.

Yes but traffic wasn’t too bad and drivers have been respectful!

Thanks Nancy! That slide under the guard rail was a first for me. And yes, I did find my wallet!

Yes. It really was and we were the only campers there. A train goes through once a day at 10:30 at night but we were up as Peter had a Committee meeting at 7pm Lummi time. Can’t wait till we cross into central time zone!

The shoulder looks pretty minuscule too.
