Whatever it takes, whatever you have to do, DO NOT miss Sleeping Bear!

Sounds like you had a long, challenging hot ride. The humidity and lack of shade makes it feel a lot harder.
3 years agoProbably Red-winged Blackbird

I see you entered dune country today and all of its up and downs . Frankfort is a neat town with the historic district and the nice homes there . A suggestion for tomorrow is to take the Sleeping Bear Heritage trail just out of Empire that goes for about 17 miles and rejoins M-22 . There is a resource for all trails in Michigan . www.mitrails.org . Cherry Republic is nice stop in Glen Arbor along your route .
3 years agoBecause I often accidentally go back and forward on the browser, I write my journal entries on a separate document before posting on CB. I learned this the hard way. And it's kind of nice to have each day in a document page as well. I use Google Docs so I can find them on any device.
3 years agoI stick to plain cold water and lots of it! It’s great!
3 years agoI have a female cycling friend whose hydration solution is to drink a two liter bottle of Caffine Free, sugar free Pepsi every night. I told her that couldn’t be good, but Jan got quite defensive, saying it was flavored bubbles. She’s an Ironwoman, so knows more than me.
3 years agoYes, that is where we did eat. But went with the special, fried perch and fries. Too much fried food, even with a salad to cut the grease.
3 years agoI’ve finally have Scott trained to look for bathrooms but it took a long time. I’m glad you missed out on the heavy rain but the humidity is a killer!
3 years agoYippee, a bathroom!
3 years agoGlad to see you started your trip! Finding a potty is really hard, glad you found one! I haven’t been drinking much before and during the ride but drinking a lot of water when I’m done which isn’t a very good solution.
3 years agoOh, you were so close! We ate at Mylan’s Grill, just two blocks from your lodging.
3 years agoGreat photo of the two of you!
3 years agoGood one!

I saw you and Jacinto while heading south of Onekama. I didn't recognize you at first, but as soon as I saw Jacinto, your name popped into my head.
3 years agoI started following you on CGOAB and then noticed you were gone and found you here. I am not sure why you left there, but I can guess.
Happy trails and enjoy the strawberries.
