Up close you can see wires connecting the lightning rods to surrounding ground rods.
3 years agoGlad you didn’t get wetter. Also, note that we haven’t gotten wet much either on this tour. We complain about the rain a lot, but we manage to void it most of the time.
3 years agoDo you know that you can force it through spots like this? Just change the routing option to ‘draw lines’ until you get through this patch, and then revert back to the alternative you want.

Robert,
We have heard about The Wall! It is famous. It has been many years since I've attempted a 20% hill. 3rd Street in our hometown is labeled as 20%. I have ridden my recumbent up it, but it's so steep the front end would lift up. Now I like my knees too much to ride those grades . . . . (my ego won't admit that I can't ride them!).
I met a man with a DALMAC jersey today. He says the tour is on for 2021.
Tell Jacinto he is missing out on triple bonus points by passing up climbing the WALL . The trouble with the wall is the 3 miles of gradual climb when you leave town and you come to a curve in the road that says steep climb ahead and then you see it . I have heard a lot of swear words over the years to describe the ( hill from hell ) . They say it tops out at about 20 % at the very top . It is on a tour that I did for many years until the pandemic called DALMAC . Look forward to you daily updates . Safe travels .
3 years agoBonus points for Jacinto if he posts a picture of the lighthouse at the tip of the Leelanau peninsula.
3 years agoYikes! $333 in Leland, Michigan is rather steep compared to my $169 "Yosemite effect" price for an ordinary motel in Mariposa, California.
I'm increasingly willing to pay more for excellent views or excellent nearby services. I hope you enjoy it.
Might be a radar dome.

I guess they were more of a surprise. We don’t have many trails, but the ones we do have are former railroad beds and are flat.
Plus, I was carrying all of that extra weight (the rack of ribs!).
Kelly sorry I should have told you about the trail following the dunes contour , did not think it would bother you .
3 years agoYou were lucky to miss the rain! We were in the middle of it but go very lucky. Sounds like you had a nice day off.

I’m happy you found us! Onekama was a cute little town.
We were looking at routing choices, trying to figure out the least traffic way to ride as we anticipate lots of traffic after the holiday. We looked at going inland slightly, near Honor. There is a drive in movie there! The Cherry Bowl!
In the end we are going with the suggested route and not past Honor.
I don’t suppose you’ve ever been to that drive in?
Robert
Thank you for suggesting this trail. Interesting that ridewithgps only shows a short mile inside the sand dunes. We think Komoot has more of it and are going to try to figure it out today.
Thanks for pointing it out to us!
Thank you! I did not know that. It will be helpful. I have that problem an annoying amount of the time.
