2 years agoI wonder what the locals thought, back in 1720 when the building was new? "Oh that's so modern! It's hideous! They sure don't build 'em like they used to..." :) Time certainly has a way of changing our perceptions of what's around us, doesn't it.

2 years agoWe were going slowly and we both have good lights but I think they were lit too. I can’t imagine the Giro going through unlighted curving tunnels.

2 years agoYou went this way! I almost mentioned this pass to you. We crossed it in 1994 on our way from Vienna to Budapest to Venice. The tunnels weren’t lit at all then, and I crashed in the middle of one of the bends. Absolutely black, and the pavement was slick from algae I think.
