I think it was in Volterra that we saw an artisan carving alabaster on a lathe. They turn out some impressive pieces.

I think there’s a bit of yellow on the front of the jersey. It’s pretty colourful from the side!

Where’s the yellow? I don’t think he’s quite covering the full spectrum adequately.

Great idea to stay in town and get a proper look. You’re right, Siena is wearing to bike in and out of anyway. Great pics!

We’ve used that method before but you need newspaper, which we don’t have. We tried some paper towel…

It is really helpful, when trying to dry wet shoes, to first stuff them with crumpled newspaper, next walk around a bit in dry socks, (let the socks dry after), then air dry overnight. Hope this arrives in time to be helpful. Dodie

It is beautiful! And it seems the time is going by so fast! I guess that’s because it took so long to actually get here (originally planned and booked in 2019).

Such a beautiful spot. We are enjoying your blog immensely. Siena was one of our favourite spots when we continued our trip after my sojourn in the Garmisch hospital. Your pictures are reminding me of how amazing it was.

That sounds right.

As explained to us, it was not finished because the Black Death killed many artisans and so much of the population that the remainder were unable to pay for the completion.

Very tasty! No resemblance whatsoever to the North American versions of bruschetta I’ve had and much spicier than the Spanish toast and tomatoes.

I don’t know how I missed it when we looked at the profile the day before. At least it wasn’t too long.

He’d already demolished a plate of gnocchi and half the salad we shared. I don’t know where he puts it all.
