Hi Paul,
After 28 years all seems different. The ferry I used previously across Mumbai harbour was much smaller. Road signs now all km and in Hindi. New roads and bridges built…. Also so much new technology in use.
An empty beach sounds wonderful. A great reward for all the hard cycling. You’re really pushing out the miles, very impressive Andy.
11 months agoAre you aware of retraversing any of your previous route? Noticing any changes?
11 months agoThat sounds good but eating salt and glucose isn't quite the same as making the drinkable and almost instantly absorbable electrolyte. Please do give it a whirl at some point when feeling fatigued and dehydrated. You may be pleasantly surprised!
Hope heat bearable and tyres n rims holding up well!
Thanks Paul. I am drinking water, eating glucose Parle biscuits and adding extra salt with meals so am accidentally almost doing what you suggest!
11 months agoHi Andy, and other cyclists in hot climes. Hope you know this valuable survival tip:
Basic Rehydration Drink:
1 litre of water
8 Level (not heaped) teaspoons of sugar
Half a level teaspoon of salt.
Mix it up well to ensure all dissolved. Drink. Try it before you knock it!
This is a lifesaver. Use to rehydrate from dose of squits, viral fevers, just sheer heat dehydration, etc. Its the perfect electrolyte for absorption/ rehydration.
Of course you can carry or buy ORS packets but this just as good and will get you out of a fix just about anywhere. Try it Andy!
You look more like a beekeeper🤣 Or something of doctor who?
11 months agoGood luck, Bridget and myself are keeping a close eye on you. Be safe and keep your fluids up. All staying the same, on Tim,s orders!👍🏴🤓

11 months ago50 miles on day one, that’s good going.
11 months agoHope the locals aren’t too scared.
11 months agoCan’t help feeling the box wheels are a little over engineered Andy.
11 months agoYes, I cycled from Darjeeling to Kanniya Kumari in 2013 and some hilly stuff in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir (Chandigarh to Srinagar) a couple of years later. I have a hankering to go north from Mumbai, across Gujerat and into Rajasthan. Maybe up to Srinagar to link up two previous tours.
But Canada, where I now live, has had a bit of a falling out with India after India assassinated someone in Canada. Relations were tense for a while, and Modhi has a tendency to stir things up. It might not be the best time for a Canadian in India. And Sri Lanka seems a compelling alternative.
Thanks Paul. Shame I am not going South to Trivandrum this time

Hi Les. I wish I had taken my phone to photograph the lone bike on the sand.
