How miserable! I’m sorry you had such bad weather. And I thought we had it bad with the rain. Be warm!
7 months agoAnother "character building"day!
Well done to get through it.
I thought we had kind of a crummy day but your’s was worse. I am glad you both made it safely. Hopefully the weather will be better going forward!
7 months agoUgh. So sorry.

7 months agoJamie’s journal was not on my radar! We rode up Logan Pass the same day. Interesting that they interpret the 3 PM thing as the gate being opened at 3 PM. I don’t think that is correct, as our friends didn’t get back until 4 PM and didn’t mention cars being further up the road.
We did not see Jamie going over Marias Pass. Probably he was ahead of us. We started late to let it warm up.
34 degrees here at the.moment.
Great write up of the day! That’s very interesting that Jacinto not wanting to carry leftovers. I’m glad the day worked out well.

7 months agoCongratulations, you are really tough! You got some amazing photos. We biked this on 6/22/1990 starting from Saint Mary’s to Whitefish at 5 am in the morning . It was an incredible descent! Here’s the link: https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/glacier1990/saint-mary-to-eureka/.
7 months agoCongratulations! And btw, you and your friends weren’t the only CBers out here today. In a coincidence, Jamie Dolan biked your direction over Marias Pass also, on a century ride from West Glacier to Cut Bank.

7 months agoYou look cold!
7 months agoGloomy yes, but still pretty spectacular
7 months agoWhat's this no bikes after 3:00 rule? That's new, or at least it wasn't a thing last June. I remember tons of people just starting up as we were getting back to Avalanche around that time. Anyway, I'm so happy to see you all had a good day. Your photos are terrific, especially the Bighorn Sheep. There really is a new movie around every turn on that road.

That reminds me of the failed giant igloo in Alaska which failed due to having too-small windows and underestimating how much it costs to run a hotel on a generator.
