Yikes! Watch those stumbles. Glad you caught yourself in time. The benefits of staying active and clean living, I suppose.

5 years agoThis is really wonderful cycling country. I’ve wanted to come back to Extremadura ever since our first visit here.
5 years agoWhat an enticing road.
5 years agoDefinitely beats the loading dock!
5 years agoIt was a bit short on charm alright, but I’ll bet it sticks with us more than most places we stop for lunch.
5 years agoIt was worth the work, I agree. La Alberca is a special place alright, but I wonder if we won’t recall the lunchtime incident even more years from now.
5 years agoNo, I never have. I don’t even like football - how could I watch a bullfight?
5 years agoYou’re right! Super cute is right on the money.
5 years agoDagnabit! Sorry about that wind!!
So glad though that the awfulness of riding into the wind was balanced out by the humor of 'the peanut butter incident' and the beauty of La Alberca. Love seeing beautiful old buildings, narrow roads, and the plaza photos are always the best!
Great photo! Have you ever been to a bullfight?
I went to one in Seville in 1999 and loved the people-watching part of it - you know, the other spectators. Everyone was wearing their Sunday best and the crowd was a more rowdy version of what I'd expect to see at the Kentucky Derby.
But images of the actual bullfight torment me to this day.
Do you remember the Billy Crystal SNL skit where he said "you look MAHvehlous!".
This inspires me to say to comment on this photo, "It's better to look good than to feel good!"
Rachael - I know you're tired here, but you look super cute!
Ahhh. The diverse and 'wonderful' lunch stops of hungry cycle-tourers! When you have to stop and eat, you have to stop and eat!
5 years agoNo, the date is correct. I published it yesterday AM, complete (as could be seen from some of the comments received yesterday, specific to the captions). This morning though, the text was gone as well as several photos I added at the last minute. I’m sure I must have overlaid it with an edit session I still had open from before I wrote it up.
The entry for the 12th is still up in my attic - we were both too exhausted after yesterday’s ride to La Alberca to deal with it, even if the WiFi had been adequate, which it wasn’t. Yesterday would have been a good time to have had an electric assist.
We saw Brandi Carlisle at the Roseland a few years ago as part of a big New Year's show. She was great.
