We are trying to be good about the wine in take at lunch time, but at times it is cheaper than ordering water which makes it hard to stick with the plan of no wine before 5pm. We are getting better but.... we still give in to temptation from time to time. Thanks for following along. Happy retirement, it's great, isn't it!
2 years agoThanks Suzanne, Steve and I were talking about it again today as we visit Seville. I think having the best of both world's is probably best, right. Finding places that are unheard of and exquisite along with the well-known places like the Alcazar today which are amazing too. Just so fortunate to see both. I think you will enjoy The Art of Travel too. Happy reading.
2 years agoI think you will like it too. Are you guys contemplating another trip, I enjoy reading your blogs?
2 years agoThanks Scott. We think you might enjoy the book if you haven't already read it.
2 years agoWide open countryside! Thanks for following and commenting, Rich.
2 years agoJust lucky as we figured out the best way to get to Quarteria.
2 years agoI often prefer the smaller, less well-known sights. Discovering them with no pre-conceptions is much more exciting.
Thanks for a new book!
Another book suggestion from you I knowI will enjoy

2 years agoThe tyranny of the guidebook - I like that.
2 years agoYou’ve really caught the Spanish sky in this picture. Its so special to Spain - nowhere else looks quite like it.
2 years agoGood job skirting Albufeira - probably our least favorite stop in Portugal. We should have gone inland ourselves.
2 years ago"...an enormous pitcher of vino tinto for the included beverage. Rested with full tummies (and a bit sloshed) we wobbled our way the last few blocks to the hotel in time for a well deserved siesta."
We learned that lesson the hard way, on our first tandem tour in France. We had stopped at a local cafe for lunch, and on the table were open jugs of local red and white wine. "When in Rome..." we figured, and had a couple glasses of wine with the meal.
We were nearly *useless* on the ride from there back to the hotel, which fortunately was neither terribly lengthy nor demanding. Naps were taken, and the lesson learned: we now FINISH the day's ride before starting to imbibe.
Pleasant journey to you!
No, German doesn't really help at all, but having a Brazilian daughter-in-law does. And it's the Brazilian Portuguese that I like so much. I don't understand it, either, though. Just like the sound.

Yes we hope to go touring in August as our wheel’s haven’t turned since 2019 but now with a more relaxed attitude to Covid we can be off.
