That was great, thanks so much for this information, Scott and Rachael! We must get to work on it. I've always been discouraged by the small screen on my Samsung Galaxy for creating routes there and we don't have iPads. But it's something to look into. Perhaps a used iPad would be good enough. Also have to see if my not-so-new Samsung Galaxy has file explorer functionality.
6 years agoThanks, teach! Amazing that those aren’t the blossoms; they’re the best part. Plus he aphids, of course - they’re pretty great too.
6 years agoAnother salvia, this one Salvia Sclarea or clary sage. These are the papery bracts that surround the blossoms.
6 years agoThanks, Bill. Come back tomorrow, too. I’ve got a job for you.

I don’t think it’s a setting. It started about three weeks ago, after a shower - I’ve been thinking water damage. The main symptom is an excruciatingly slow shutter closure and image save, but occasionally there have been spoiled images like this.
Thinking of it as a card problem makes some sense though. I wonder if space fragmentation becomes a probl m over time on cards, and they need periodic reformatting.
I've never seen anything like this, Scott. I'm glad you figured out how to remedy it. Maybe some setting got knocked inadvertently.
6 years agoThanks, Bill. I’ve never heard of a nigella. Frustrating that I lost half a page of the journal! Not sure what happened there.

Thanks, Bill. I was lucky. I was watching him crawl out of the shadows into the sun. I shot this as soon as he got here, and immediately afterwards he fell off. Clumsy bug!
Hey, I don’t have a CGOAB account now so I can’t comment, but you might let Tim know he’s not the only guy on a Bike Friday in Greece. We missed each other in Thermopylae by just two days.
Stellar photo!

The iPad is the least critical thing, really - anything you can draw a map on will suffice. I like iPads because they’re a good dimension for me without taking much space - it works well for journal entries as well as web access. I’d think you could get a used or refurbished one pretty inexpensively.
