I dunno.... I looked and looked and decided I cannot for sure tell. It is a fritillary, but the exact species remains a mystery to me. That said, the one that seems to match the closest is the niobe fritillary.

I am certainly not a butterfly expert!

This is another of the clary sages.

I would sure consider coming to somewhere in the region, if you’ve never been here. I’m already imagining another tour a few years down the road.

Retirement! Yippee!

Ack! Watch out!

This looks to be one of the Phacelias (non-native to Europe) but hard to ID without seeing the leaves.

Of course. That makes a lot of sense, that they’re drying it for livestock.

Alas... again my internet searching abilities have been exceeded.

They look like some sort of small apple such as a crabapple which they are obviously drying probably to feed to pigs or horses. There are no doubt lots of these trees growing wild in the area and not to waste the fruit, leaving it to rot on the ground, they needed to dry it for future use. Just my guess.

Oh, my gosh. I’d forgotten that some amphibians might be following along. So insensitive of me - I could have at least headlined the post to warn them to avert their eyes.

Kermit is simultaneously impressed and horrified.

Oh, of course. I’ve heard of Bailey bridges before but never really known what one was. Looks just right. And you’re right, the colors are great too.

I looked, but didn't find a match...

Following this journal is making me think about changing my upcoming retirement tour. I was going to go to France, then through Switzerland to Italy, but now I'm thinking of doing something like this--copying you again! So, one for 2019 and one for 2020...

It looks like a double-double Bailey bridge: double panels stacked two high on each side.

I'm intrigued by the colours.
