Kathleen,
Now you have me looking up acronyms ;-)
That is such a versatile bike! I ended up watching the owner's manual video. Looks perfect for you, IMHO.
Jeff
Thanks, Jeff, nice to know journals have a long shelf life. I had a lot of fun doing the sketches. They’re a nice change of pace from photos. And as of November I have a new n+1 - an upright e-bike, a Tern NBD with belt drive and IGH. So I will be doing more 2-wheel tours than I knew.
1 month agoKathleen,
I finally had time to read the journal of your latest trip. Wow! Your writing is superb. I've never had to look up the definitions of so many words before! Every time, you used the perfect word for what you were saying.
I love your sketches – what a beautiful way to highlight what you noticed each day.
Looking forward to your next trip, whether on two wheels or three.
Jeff
Oh, but I love our conversations, maybe through email racpat_rtw@yahoo.com
3 months agoSmart woman; don’t bother becoming techno. I was thinking, though, of being nerds about art. Having little discussions like this every once in a while. No worries if you’d rather not.
3 months agoHi Kathleen,
I'll have to consider this, but presently I barely use the cell phone and not an app user. Maybe one day I'll really get into the techno 21st century
You can email me at kleen at sonic net so we can be more art nerdy if you want.
3 months agoI loaded a photo into an app called Sketchbook. I hand-traced everything, then did a simple color fill for all the sections.
However, it’s very different than the reference photo. I played around with the fully-traced image for a few days but didn’t like it much. I ended up taking out all the trees, shrubs, and clouds, moved the sign, and muted the background colors. So the bike becomes more prominent.
Here’s the reference photo:

It’s magic!
I like this, how did you do it? It looks like a poster.
3 months agoThanks, Suzanne. You and Janos are a big part of my memories.
4 months agoSo glad you posted this! Memories for me, too.
4 months agoThanks, Rachel. Oh, I think we’ll cross paths one of these days.
4 months agoHa! And what I want to learn is the way you paint, very spare, just enough color. I start to do that but then I find myself adding every (unnecessary) detail. Ugh.
4 months agoNo limits in art!
