I would miss the temples if they weren’t there. They are so often a fine place to stop and get some shade under a rustling bodhi tree. And use the toilet, of course.
4 years agoHa, ha, I decided to leave this photo uncommented, Bill, hoping you would be helping me out again.... Unfortunately the photo doesn´t really show the beauty of this pretty flower, as I couldn´t get close enough. But I can´t afford getting my cycle boots soaking wet.

My auntie does live in France but I wasnt even aware of this, Steve. And believe me I spent a lot of money on buying drinking water while cycling there...

4 years agoI saw that tree with the magnificent blooms and had to dig around and find what it is... An orchid tree.

Why am I not surprised hearing that, Andrea! Have you and Bruce made any plans on your time Thailand yet? You may have answered that question in your journal but - mea culpa! - I have been busy rolling over the ubiquitous undulations of Northern Thailand.... Tomorrow I want to have a look at it while roaming through the Historic Park of Sukhothai though! Would love to meet before I leave towards New Zealand on Dec 29
5 years agoHa! We did too!
5 years agoThank you, Bill. Very interesting! I did some cycling along the German-Polish border in August and there were signs everywhere warning of the oak processionary caterpillars.... I am glad I didn´t touch the little creature!

The true Malaysian ones are fried with lard, shrimp and cockles. Sometimes you can get a side order of fresh, raw cockles.
