Thanks, Bob. We found the A1A portion to be the more scenic, especially the last two days. Crossing the FL peninsula was fun but there were those pockets of civilization which we had to connect with some high-speed (shouldered) roads. Not as scenic. Plus we were against headwinds the whole eastbound portion. I would think if you planned a trip along the east coast using A1A (and visit the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville) it would be a good trip. Cheers!

Looks like it was a fantastic trip! I've also been a "space geek", ever since watching those first Mercury and Gemini flights way back when I was a kid. I'd love to do a tour down there some day.
And thanks for adding those videos. They really add to the story.

Thanks, Lednar! The Kennedy Space Center was fantastic. I was just editing part 2 of the trip in video and there are several clips of me all giddy with excitement being around all that space hardware - truly a fascinating experience.
And I'll have to agree - I have a great cycling partner. Her e-Bike was the best Christmas gift ever :-)

We can vouch for a tour in Quebec as you’ve outlined. We rode the St Lawrence south shore from Montreal to Quebec City on our 2015 cross Canada ride ( https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/ltkk2015/) and it was great. We’ve heard from a number of people that the north shore is equally great.
The tour you’ve outlined starting in Ottawa is on our ‘short list’ for our next tour, but we’ll add on the Gaspe and Maritime provinces as well if we do it. With some luck that might happen in the fall but it has hot competition with a Pyrenees, French med, Italian lakes and Dolomites route.
As for looking us up if and when you do the Quebec trip, we’re a little bit off the route … about 3500 km’s west in the Rockies 😎! Kirsten did grow up north of Quebec City and in Montreal though before she moved west and hooked up with me.
Continued safe travels!

No problem with the shuttle arm. I did see that and I thought it was. Great collab with the two countries for th space program.

Guessing your Canadian since you mentioned this. I would like to get to Canada and ride from Ottawa to mt Tremblant and onto Montreal and Quebec City once all this pandemic lockdown lifts. If you’re near the route we’ll try and look yo up.

True, Gregory! In the last pic I posted, Kath is juggling paying for her ice cream from the truck she flagged down. In that act, she misjudged the angel of the handlebars and the wind, and that pushed her bike to the side as she reached for her wallet. Very windy day, indeed. Very GOOD ice cream, too

Hi Kath & Paul,
Really enjoying your journal, and it’s great that you’re touring together. Both Kirsten and I find having a ‘touring buddy’ essential gear.
We we’re at KSC waaay back in 1992, just before our daughter was born. I had pretty much the same reaction to the place that you have. Simply amazing. And as for posting more pics of the space shuttle …. I’ve got absolutely no problem with that as long as you continue to feature the Canad-arm and the Maple Leaf 😎 🇨🇦!

Bike riding on a beach--that's something you don't get to do every day. Cool!

Thanks for the update, Greg. I did think about cycling over to the space center and had concerns based on the access. I decided to hail an über - my wife LOVES the idea.

Cheers!

Hi Paul, it's me again. Your tour looks like it'll be fun, fulfilling and flat. And the Kennedy Space Center looks like an interesting stop. But be careful on the highway leading to the space center. I seem to remember reading a journal a few years ago where the author got hit by a car on that road. Lots of traffic, no shoulder, that kind of stuff.

(P.S. As I was writing the above, I started thinking it might have been one of the Grampies who got hit. I just looked up their Florida journal here on Cycleblaze and confirmed that. Steve got hit by the truck and he was propelled forward into Dodie. Pretty nasty injuries to Steve. You might not want to mention this to your wife.)
