At least you didn’t fall into the canal!

That’s what discouraged us when we first saw it too - those brutal winters. That and the 28 million euros.

The for sale part kind of answers that question then. I can see the influence of Neuschwannstein, but I was scratching my head a bit with this chateau. Not that I would object to owning it myself. It has quite a lovely setting. I hear they can be a bit cold and drafty in the winter though.

Maybe it was a later factor, but it sounds like the main cause was political and economics. Narbonne was sacked by the Black Prince in the 100 Years war, and construction of the cathedral ceased somewhere around that time. One reference I found said that there was an unwillingness to continue quarrying the town’s fortifications for building materials for the cathedral.

Was it a victim of the Black Death, like the one in Siena?

Mostly it's closed-in windows. Doors are utilitarian, windows... admit light. Thanks for thinking of me! :)

Once I registered my new phone number with France and the 14 days on the original Orange Holiday Europe plan were used, I was able to go online and recharge the phone. I chose the Orange Holiday Europe plan which was valid for one month and gave me 20 GB of 4g, LTE data, 1 hour of calls from Europe to worldwide ( no charge for received calls), 1000 texts from Europe to worldwide for a cost of 43.40 euros. They also have one that is valid for 14 days with 5 GB data, 1 hour of calls and 500 texts. It’s been working great. I hear you are flying to Frankfurt. I’m not sure how easy it would be to purchase a SIM card there.

This looks more like art than food.
