I love the flavor of this day .. just the right amount of adversity to keep you on your toes and to add to the uniqueness of this particular 24-hour experience.

2 years agoWhat a wonderful story and a great looking meal. We've had swordfish but what does sea bass taste like?
2 years agoNice to hear from you, Scott. You’ll be back in France yourselves soon! Where are you planning on riding?
2 years agoNo, the spelling was correct on the carte. I should have explained the caption though, because it’s how the desert was described, sing-song and with theatrics when we first heard it five years ago. At the time I was charmed by her flair but didn’t recognize the connection with the name.
2 years agoHi,
Ta-Ta-Tin sounds like a bad joke that’s been making the rounds here. I’ll try to explain: Tarte tatin (auntie’s tarte) is very common, and well loved just about everywhere. Sue made one the other night, and it was delish. The joke is: “Do you know how to make a poulet takin?”
“You put the poulet in the four ( oven) and t ‘tend” ( tu attends = you wait). Sounds better said fast in French, but you get the drift. I was wondering if your hosts had put the name on the menu the way you spelled it, in the spirit of the joke.
Cheers,
Keith
Well Scott, you certainly tell a great story and this is another one! I have been meaning to comment for a while. You clearly demonstrate that my belief in “fate” is a real thing. Wonderful that you had a reunion with the owners of Maison Conti! Frequently, Pat and I try to find a restaurant or hotel that we have stayed in or dined at, only to lose in the mind concentration game. Glad that you won in the end! As well, I was hoping that you would have an opportunity to get together with Rich and Robin Frasier. I have also enjoyed their journals and would one day like to meet up with them. It is nice to know that we are involved in such a great community.
Glad you are enjoying the roads and trails in France. Pat and I rode the Narbonne canal a few years ago and also found that it was definitely a bit more than the small wheels enjoy! But, we will be back in France at end of April to complete a ride we started before Plan B took us south through Narbonne and beyond. Although I am not much of a contributor, I do enjoy reading your journal.
That makes me really want to go there
2 years agoYour ride today looks great …good video again by Rockey.

2 years agoIt’s an excellent town for that, alright. Especially in the old Jewish quarter. Almost every door you pass has a story to tell.
2 years agoWonderful doors and windows!

No idea! But then, I can’t taste or smell so what do I know? If you want food reviews or recommendations you’ve come to the wrong spot.
