Great descriptions of the medieval bishopric you stayed in and the medieval town. Someday I'd like to tour in France--the land of my ancestors--and stay in such places. In the meantime, I'm hoping to begin a similar tour of the medieval land of southwest Wisconsin. (In May.) It will include a number of charming state park campgrounds and Motel 6-type inns. Can't wait.
2 years agoWhat a great place to stay. Maybe in the fall..... Thanks for sharing.
2 years agoWe stayed at a place in England, built 50 years before Columbus set sail. Those old places are certainly each one-offs, aren't they?
That flood would have been terrifying to experience.
Love it!

2 years agoThat was our thought too. This is one of my favorite kinds of day - experiencing something exceptional that’s not even on the radar.
2 years agoWow!
2 years agoIt should still be there waiting - that bridge has been around for 2,000 years. The perfect springboard for your second jaunt up Ventoux!
2 years agoLikely. The Romans invented pizza, as I recall.
2 years agoAll it needed was a red hat. I can’t believe I forgot to bring it along.
2 years agoReally big pizza oven?
2 years agoFuscia, orange, a bright smile, and some jaw-dropping stone work.
All in one photo!
Perhaps we should have stayed here, as we’d originally planned in 2017. But we arrived early in the morning, everything was closed, and we pushed on to Malaucène and then up and over Mont Ventoux. Maybe next time.
2 years agoIn the past we’ve intermixed hand-washing (with all the annoyances that comes with it) with finding the occasional stay at a place with a washer and dryer. This time though through a packing error we forgot to bring any laundry soap along, and have taken two trips to the laundromat. We’ve since picked up some soap so we’ll probably revert to the norm again.

These are exceptional photos and descriptions of this area which I don’t know at all. I remember reading that the Via Rhona bike route was supposed to be completed in 2020, I believe. I hope that the parts you are on have been finished and that you are enjoying the finished trails.
