We haent kept track of expenses because we’d rather not know (it’s stil cheaper than living at home anyway!), but certainly I think it would be less expensive in general in almost anywhere in Spain than almost anywhere in France.
2 years agoI’ve been watching the converging lines of your trip and Susan’s with bated breath, but now a bonus with Suzanne! Laissez les bon temps rouler!
2 years agoHi Rachael & Scott. I'm still trying to decide between your itinerary in Germany, going back to Andalusia (which we loved) or your suggestion along the Via Rhona which looked extraordinary up to Crémieu. How do the costs of accommodation/food compare? We would be looking to stay in similar lodgings to you.
Looking forward to reading about the Cycle Blaze meet up!
This is exciting! We’ve been looking forward to this for a long time.
2 years agoThis is so exciting ! What a great idea! Have a wonderful week. We will be happily following along.
2 years agoHi,
Lunch in Beaune on Thursday, apéro at my house Friday. Send me your budget and dining preferences for restaurants and I’ll make reservations for thur. Use my e-mail address.
Cheers,
Keith
You’re right! Gevrey is right on route - the one Rocky and I have mapped out at least. I suspect either would work well for us all, but I’ll poll the troops and check back with you. We’d be passing through your town on the 20th (Friday), but lunch in Beaune would likely be the 19th. Preference either way?
2 years agoHi,
I guess I’ll see you all in a few days. You’ll be coming right through Gevrey, so maybe you can stop in. We’re about 15 km by bike from Dijon center and 500 meters from the gare in Gevrey, in the lower part of town. Or maybe we can meet for lunch in Beaune. Give it a think.
Cheers,
Keith
You wouldn't have any way to know of course, but your travels along with Susan Carpenter, among others, have caused me to return to and once again view photo collections we've amassed on our various European tandem tours over the past two decades.
It's been a real pleasure and a treat to see your accounts of visiting places I too have seen; in some cases I can even envision you standing exactly where I stood to capture a particular photo.
Thanks for routing me back onto Memory Lane.
Look forward to seeing you all together?
And will probably wish we were with youse, too.
I’m kind of envious of the meetup. Someday!
2 years agoWe had a couple days to see Lyon, ahead of our 2019 tandem tour in the Isere valley. Unfortunately I was suffering ill effects from the flight and consequently failed to be able to fully appreciate the city. But it definitely has some virtues and some interesting reasons to return for a more thorough visit.
2 years agoNo, not even acceptable with my fatter tires and shocks.
2 years agoWhat Susan said!
We just got our 4th Covid vaccinations and I had my bike tuned. Ready to go!
Hi,
2 years agoI always had a hard time finding a restaurant in Villefranche, so I’ve learned to go elsewhere on the road to or from Lyon.
Cheers,
Keith
