Rachael’s cold is much better today, thanks. I was sure she would be - she almost never gets sick, and recovers quickly. I knew about the path to Arco, and was tempted by it. It really sounds great, but it didn’t make sense to us to bike there and continue me back. Which is fine - it gives us a reason to return some year.
6 years agoYup. I should have credited you for this insight.
6 years agoThat is so true! Always look up 😀.
6 years agoYour route today to Lake Garda was similar to what we did last year except in reverse. We road up the bike path along the lake for much of it to Garda. We thought we might ride to the north end but the road north of Garda was just too busy so we too went over that ridge to get back on the Claudia Augusta. There is a good bike path connecting the Claudia Augusta to the north end of the lake to Arco which we took last year.
Hope Rachael gets over her cold quickly. Not fun at at any time. That was a long ride for someone not feeling well.
Us too. An easy call. Mountains - who needs ‘em?
6 years agoI’m not sure about locks - I think people don’t bother when they’re stopped nearby like this, and neither do we. They’re locked when people leave them unattended though.
You’re right, we could do much worse than starting over in Bolzano.
I like how they protected the trees, too. Are these bikes locked? If that is unnecessary in Bolzano, I think we should all move there.
6 years agoYes!!
6 years agoGlad you left the scary traffic behind!
6 years agoCat with party whistle?
Or half cat half ant eater?
Don't you just love the tiled roofs?
6 years agoSo, not in Toblach, and now not in Verona either it sounds like. We’ll miss each other by a day or two. We’re getting closer though - maybe next year!
Enjoy Pordenone! We really liked it 20 years ago, on our way from Ljubljana to Venice. You might look at Vincenza also on your way west. Safe travels!
We are booked for Gorizia tomorrow nite then thinking Pordenone, Treviso, Verona. Not the most direct route. Probably 5 days to Verona I am thinking. Probably too slow for you guys. We will see how things go...trains are an option. We are enjoying the warmer weather here and other than catching our flight no great desire to head north.
6 years agoI wondered how your time budget was doing, and also about whether you were pushing the season in Switzerland. Verona sounds like a great place to close up.
We might meet up in or near Verona, depending on how pokey you are about getting there. Our next three nights are committed: Trento, Peschiara di Garda, and Mantua. We’ll be in Mantua Saturday night. After that we’ll start working our way northwest to Lake Como, but we’re still considering options. Stopping at Verona on the way is a possibility. When are you thinking you’ll be there?
Also, which direction are you biking from Trieste? You might consider hopping a train to escape some of the sprawl to the west.
Hehe. No credit needed, it is just such a good policy. In Trieste Keith and I were blown away by the architecture of a building, looking up. Then I looked down and we realized we had walked by it before and not even noticed it because we were so busy looking in the windows at eye level.
6 years agoWe are loving Treviso. Even in the rain 😜.
