Oops. Supposed to be kph, not mph. Autocorrect got me again.
Still 38mph on a loaded bike is moooovin’!
Cheers,
Keith
60mph!
5 years agoA shoe drying trick Dodie learned from her Mom is to stuff the shoes with crumpled newspaper, or paper towels etc, to sop up the excess moisture. Next walk around for a bit in a pair of DRY socks. After this treatment the shoes should be nearly dry come morning. Socks will usually dry reasonably well overnight in a hotel room, especially if wrung out really well. We use a towel twisted around and around to get most moisture out.
5 years agoOoh, we are salivating just looking at the photos.
5 years agoKeep posting pictures! I read through your journal from last year noting places to go... One of the reasons I ended up with such a convoluted route.

Thank you for bringing this important memorial to my attention. I will be riding through the Poitou-Charentes region next month and have added Oradour-sur-Glane to my route. It's so important to remind ourselves and others where extreme nationalism and xenophobia can lead.
Well you have me there. Not being Canadian, I had no idea such things existed, or what they might mean. I am guessing it has something to do with inclusiveness, but I could be wrong.
Cheers,
Keith
You are welcome. I noticed that you and I have visited many of the same places. If I’d known a year ago that you were going to visit Brittany this year, I wouldn’t have posted many pictures in that journal but said :”Just wait for next year to see Jacquie’s pictures. She is much better at photography than I am”. But I didn’t.
5 years agoI suspect the meaning is similar to that of the rainbow crosswalks found in many places in Canada.
5 years agoI saw (but didn't photograph) similar things in the park by the river. Presumably "art" but looks to me more like what kids might do with leftover lumber from a building project.
5 years agoThanks for the plug, Keith!
5 years agoI'd heard about this event. It was woven into a work of fiction but it still was a horror. Seeing your photos makes it so real. Heartbreaking.
5 years agoThis is one of the most powerful places I have ever visited. Seeing the burnt out doctors car and the burnt sewing machines

Hi Kathleen,
Thanks. I’m an admirer of her work, but before visiting I had no idea she was born in Bessines.
Cheers,
Keith
I always wondered what "puy" meant but never looked it up. Thanks!
