Thanks for sharing.
You provide lots of excellent information
I'm thinking of putting a similar ride on my ToDo list (but using an e-bike and comfortable accommodation)

Ian I can’t remember what I had other than my standard fare, a vanilla milkshake, but being Stuart Town (aka formerly ’Ironbark’) they should have something on the menu called The Banjo Patterson.
6 months agoGraham, it might be a great village coffee shop but did you get works? Ian
6 months agoNot noticeably Mike. I think it’s an artefact of the photo because of the turned handlebars and the slightly askew top bar bag.
And I made it to Brisbane without too many wrong right turns. :)
Does the saddle have a slight lean to the right?
6 months agoThanks for following the ride Mike. It’s been fun.
I’ll do one more journal entry after the official finished gathering today. It’s the first time I’ve ever had a Welcome Committee at the end of a ride.
Thanks for another great journal, Graham.
7 months agoRich there was a pile of fresh, chopped leafy vegetables carefully buried under the layer of grated cheese. It was a carefully constructed meal.
7 months agoRiding while sick totally sucks! So sorry you're suffering. If anything could fix you up, that dinner should have done the trick. Nothing green in there at all - true guy's food. :)
7 months agoIan I’ve always preferred Nandewar to name the ancient area where I grew up. We could see Mt Kaputar in the Nandewar Range from my home village of Barraba. And there’s no resemblance to England, new or old, in the Kamilaroi country I’m familiar with.
As for that MP, the name isn’t worth mentioning.
A fine entry on the good points of Tamworth, a fine looking town but not New England. It shot up the rankings and Armidale plummeted when Barnaby Joyce moved up the hill. Ian
7 months agoIan ‘Trunkey Trotters’ has a winning clip clop sound to it.
I didn’t notice any houses currently for sale in Trunkey Creek, but the pub serves good coffee. Worth the climb up from Tuena.
Graham, I had a friend at uni whose father had trotters, all with the name Trunkey-*. On a visit in the early 80's, the two houses north of the pub were for sale: $7,000 and $5,000 or both for $10,000! Ian
7 months agoHi Angela, I was very impressed with how professional the Seven News camera mam Sam was. And they did an excellent job editing.
Quite a few donations have been made because of the 7 news item.
And there was even a donation from Inner Mongolia… but not because of the news item. That’s the FaceBook effect.
Interestingly the cameraman is now interested in trying out cycle touring.
Kind words Graham. Thanks for having me along on the Brisbane adventure. There is no better cycling companion than a good friend who has such positive determination, is a philosopher, and is engaging with everyone. I count myself very lucky.
