Hi Dave. Just another concerned reader checking in. Hope you're ok.
4 years agoAnd another. You didn't end your page in Thomasville on a very positive note...

4 years agoHey Dave, checking to see you have not posted in a few days. OK?
4 years agoThanks for scoping out this state for us, David. It’s not a place that occurred to me to bicycle across before, and this gives Me some food for thought.
I hope it’s not a bad sign that it’s been three days since your last post!
I don't have a need to visit Alabama, based on your experiences. Pray, Pedal, Repeat. I like that!

4 years agoYou are very tough!! How do you make yourself keep going? I hope you found a place to sleep.

I also learned "the hard way" about fire ants. And every sting develops into a pimple after a few days. They are invasive but, thankfully limited as to how far north they can go due to intolerance to cold. Barring some genetic adaptation, I should never need to deal with them here in Ohio.

Thanks Jacquie! I will check it out over the next couple days.
4 years agoThanks Rachael. I will check it out over the next couple days.
4 years agoWe also use ridewithgps using the cycling option, just be sure to zoom in and use the satellite option, if it puts you on a small road because it could be a gravel road. There also is a ridewithgps app to use for navigation. Sorry about your ordeals. No matter what you use for navigation you’ll always run into surprises.
4 years agoYou might want to try RideWithGPS.com for route planning. It has its quirks too, but is better than Google for cycling routes. I checked, and it seems rwgps would have routed you on roads in that area--including the road parallel to the Richard Martin Trail.
4 years agoSorry you couldn’t see the cave.

This may be a day late and a dollar short, but in Minnesota bike shops are considered an essential business. That likely is the case in other states.
