Yeah. Guess I picked the wrong week to give up cycling touring in the heat and humidity...

Paul Mulvey commented on Day 3: Is it worth it to ride 23 extra miles for an air-conditioned room?

Yeah - the 23-miles in the heat were enough to continue to hold my "tough guy" card. I didn't need to sleep in the sweat lodge that night :-)

I've camped in some pretty bad heat on a few occasions in my backpacking days. Once in Death Valley it didn't get below 93-degrees all night. Another time I had outrageous heat and humidity in northern Arkansas. Camping was the only choice in the backcountry. I think that's why I turned to bike touring. You made the right 23-extra-mile decision.

Quoting "Airplane" is never inappropriate. It has a lot of great one-liners.

I may have been too impatient to look that up myself šŸ˜‚. Thanks for the assist. Always good to have a botanist to help out when posting a touring blog. Thanks.

Paul Mulvey replied to a comment by Bob Distelberg on Bring on the first retirement cycling tour!

I've been waiting on this since retirement date May 3. Waiting and logging about 490 miles on the new bike since that day. My legs are ready, I'm ready, and the bike is ready. Now all that's left is to ride it and plan the adventure.
I did two videos during a short trip to the Golden Isles (I think you watched them) so that kept me busy and distracted while this tour creeps ever closer.

Looks like a really great adventure, with an impressive amount of planning, by the way! Iā€™m looking forward to following along (not to mention seeing a video some day?)
