Bill Shaneyfelt replied to a comment by John Anderson on Day 20 - bug update

OOOOH!

Great there's someone else out here that can help folks!

At age 78 I am not sure how much longer I can keep offering "maybe it is xxx" IDs. My 1969 zoology degree is slowly fading.

Not a roach. Looks like a ground beetle.

Notice the mandibles (heavy biting mouthparts)

I agree with your "just do it" philosophy. Last week when it was near 10 degrees F I saw a kingfisher on a branch, but just passed it because things were so cold. I have checked every day since and not seen it again... I wish I had just frozen my hand and taken the picture. Probably will never again get such a perfect chance.

Do it and live the moment that will then be gone.

Ripio, I had to laugh! Yeah, sounds just like you wrote!

Although I knew what it meant from all the bike touring journals I have followed, I thought I would get an "official" rendering of its meaning:

Holy smokes guys, that's AMAZING! Also, I might have found what reepio is. But I dare not put my guess here. Keep on riding and sharing. I am inspired to get on my indoor trainer in the morning and pretend to be on David Fife Line...

and a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!
