There sure are a lot of Daytons around! So I looked it up and found that in the USA, there are 20 cities/towns. Who knew? Well not me. I had seen about 10 or so just following cycle journals.

Thanks Rich. It was a long day that took more out of me than I realized, until Chuck showed up. Hope you are doing well.

That was a legendary day, even with the pickup. Glad you survived it!

I remember driving that section and thinking how fun it would be on a bike!

Thanks. Agree. None of the other options are good. The airlines are having issues and driving across the country is difficult. Hope someday we have a better rail system.

When we were in Blanding, a fellow in an RV asked where we were headed. We said Utah-95 to Hanksville. He asserted that road might be the most scenic in the country. After having ridden it, a sting can be made in favor of his statement.

On AMTRAK late is the norm. I have been anywhere from 1 1/2 hours late going Chicago to Sacramento, to 12 hours late on the return.

They rent lines from freight and are at their mercy, add to that weather and maintenance. The 12 hour delay was due to 7 hours waiting for track inspection somewhere on the great plains after a tornado passed through plus other smaller delays. It was my last trip on AMTRAK... 2015 I think.

Isn’t that the truth! There’s no other place like this, mile after mile.
