The orange lichen on the rock might be Rusavskia sorediata if my internet search is correct. Did not find a common name

I'm fascinated by fungi, and often photograph them, but mostly do not attempt to identify them.
While in Germany '76-'78, a German friend taught me around a dozen edible German mushrooms, but here, I only know morels and puffballs, but not down to the exact species.
Fungi vary so much in their shape, size, color within a single species!
Looks like mountain death camas... Do NOT eat! Extremely toxic.

Looks like some kind of harebell. Google searching turns up Campanula rotundafolia, which has several different common names.

Maybe a black billed magpie...

I grew up with a "teepee burner" glowing every night across the street at the mill from our house. Horrible polluters, yet I still feel a bit nostalgic when I see them. Unbelievable that this one is still smoking away, though.
6 years agoIt does work well, doesn’t it. Rachael was really pleased with this one - it gives a good sense of the feel of the ride.
6 years agoThe heat wasn’t that bad, really. I just whine a lot. It was pretty nice to be forced into getting outside early for a change.
I’ve been thinking of you riding these roads, Em. I think you and the crew would really like this country - great scenery, remarkable geology, a lot of gravel for those that like that sort of thing, plenty of places for a float.
Thanks, Suzanne. It’s even got a bit of rust. I’ve been looking for the right photo to feature for the July challenge, and think I’ve found my candidate.
6 years agoThe same down in Oregon and Washington - they started shutting down back in the seventies. I’ll still see one from time to time, but not actually in use. Sort of made me nostalgic.
6 years agoAbsolutely stunning shots!
