Nice you could find some enjoyment out of our unease, Ron. And how are those headwinds doing, and the rowdy drunks in the campgrounds?

Nope, no title. Permanently lost, apparently.

But as long as the valuable bottle opener is safe, no worries, says Jen.

I enjoy the way you described the lost items... Very engaging. Jen and I go nuts when we lose something.
I'm glad it all turned up, and I'm interested to hear whether the title is in the safe deposit box.

Thanks, Greg! It feels like quite a milestone for us, in a big year.

Happy Anniversary! A couple days late, but no less sincere.

I really did not expect to find it either! I was just going to comment on the colorful lichens... Sometimes things somehow work out.

It does, doesn’t it? It hadn’t occurred to me at the time though. It’s so open and unmanicured.

That’s brilliant, Bill. Looks right on all counts - range, habitat, presentation. I didn’t really expect anyone to identify this.

I've ridden some of these with an annual ride organized by a Vancouver bike shop. I had no idea why they were bike-only, but enjoyed them very much.

You certainly won't get any flack from the Grumbys about incorporating a car. It looks like a very logical way to accomplish the route you've laid out. As you said, lodging is expensive and not plentiful unless you're in one of the towns or camping. I look forward to your trip. The Canadian Rockies are spectacular.

Well, I'm no mycologist, but with considerable google image searching and a bit more searching, I might have found it.... Possibly lipstick cladonia lichen.

Looks a little Sicilian if you remove the mountain from this shot.

Thanks for the interesting question! As usual, I really never gave it much thought. In this case, I just picked it up from the article about the house from the PSU website. It’s a shorthand though for Queen Anne Revival, a spectrum of elaborate early Industrial Age styles that began in the mid-1850’s in England, loosely inspired by the actual Queen Anne style. According to Wikipedia anyway, there are regional differences: British 19th century Queen Anne, American Queen Anne, Australian Queen Anne.
