I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right or course. We drove through Yaak twenty years ago on our way to Glacier. I’ve never forgotten how incredibly wild and remote it seemed back then.
6 years agoA first for me too.
6 years agoNow this shot looks exactly like the part of Montana I'm from. *homesick*
6 years agoI wondered about thistles, because the rest of the plant looked thistle-like. I’d never seen a blossom like this though. Thanks!
6 years agoIt took some searching, but I found it! This is blue globe thistle.

I’m with you. After spilling on one in Utah last year I’m a real chicken. These were really awful though - wide gaps, round bars.
6 years agoI didn’t even look at that - I was just trying to not slip into the gaps. Thanks for the warning though - I’ll keep an eye out.
6 years agoI hate those things! Always need to stop and walk across them (and I'm always on my road bike, with road-cleat shoes, in the Okanagan). Some people bunny-hop them but not me.
6 years agoNice poison ivy crop!
6 years agoWe think so too. I can’t believe my luck, finding someone to put up with me for so long.
6 years agoThat's great!
6 years agoAlso happy anniversary! Our 10th was July 11
6 years agoThat was a lucky find. I browsed the net for ideas for a day ride from Bellingham, and this popped up. It’s a regular ride one of the local cycling clubs takes. It didn’t really describe the route though, so I was really surprised by the BP section (on Cherry Point).
6 years agoI'm impressed that you and Rachael find so many great places to ride in the PNW. Did you know about the BP road ahead of time? Love riding without traffic!
