Yes it is the right thing to do as I feel if we continued it could have ended in disaster. A rear rack battery is a fundamental design flaw Neither of my other two had that batteries on the racks but had thrm on down tubes. We have had a great time and so wonderful to tour in Europe again
1 year agoYes, it seems the right thing to do. Sorry to see your journey and journal end, though. It was wonderful following you.
My first e-bike which was converted from a conventional bike had the battery on the rear rack and the motor in the rea hub. Not a good set-up and hard to control, so I understand your situation.
Hope you have a safe and not too tiring trip home.
Awww, sorry you’re ending it, what a great ride. I’ve really enjoyed following along once again and getting my fix of old tractors. Safe travels home.
1 year agoyes we are proud of what we have done
1 year agoYes Steve you could sense things weren’t quite right Steve I appreciate your understanding but we are proud of ourselves getting this far
1 year agoCongratulations on your 1000 km achievement! Looks like you’re really in the groove of it now. People here look at me in disbelief when I tell them you can cycle that far on dedicated biking paths.
1 year agoProbably stupid!
1 year agoAh yes, as I said in another comment, it's based on the design of the parliament building in London, I think
1 year agoIs that the Hungarian parliament building sliding out of the picture to the left? It's a modified copy of the London parliament, I remember. I also remember being stopped from riding past it, though others seem not to have been. That's the problem, of course, with looking like a shady anarchist
1 year agoI admire your decision to take up single track mountain biking. Chapeau!
1 year agoCongratulations!!
1 year agoReims is a great place for a rest day!
1 year agoSounds like you had a mixed day, but we find that after significant difficult stretches we too are really tired. Enjoy the rest day, you deserve it. We will be more or less following your route in about a months time so we are taking careful note of where you had challenging bits.
1 year agoNo not hurt at all didn’t even go in the stinging nettles. Just felt shaken up and in need of a rest

Good sensible decision after the risk assessment conference. You are ending with a great trip. Say hello to Louise and her family. Welcome home soon 😁
