We also relied heavily on seven eleven.

4 months agoIt supposed to cool down this week (about 12C), so the fleece may be needed.
Route 193 is really nice - it runs between the coastal highway (11) and the valley one (9), which I think you rode up.
I was in that neck of the woods a while ago - albeit cycling the other way...

Wow. You’re getting really lucky on the eastside weather. It’s such a beautiful part of the island but it was really wet both times we were there.
4 months agoThis looks so much nicer than the ‘hotel’ we stayed at just up the road in Dawu.
4 months agoI like being reminded of when we climbed this hill going the other way. At the bottom a friendly dog started following us and kept us company all the way to the summit - 7 miles! We tried without success to get him to turn back numerous times. We didn’t lose him until we started coasting down the other side and he couldn’t keep up.

4 months agoI would love staying there with the cats.
4 months agoI didn’t risk a windy ride along the coast today. Instead, I went up and over the mountains and it was a fabulous day. Great riding, and the wind wasn’t a factor. Tomorrow I’ll head to Taitung, and the only option is the windy coast. Then I’ll take a rest day!
4 months agoRats. I meant to drop in a comment about the wind yesterday. I wasn’t really too concerned about you getting down to Kenting, but that wind forecast looks like it might be a poor time to go around the horn and up the east side. We did that ten years ago on a day ride from Kenting, and it was one of the windiest rides we’ve ever experienced. Beautiful though: https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/taiwan2014/layover-in-kenting/
4 months agoThere’s a fine line between tough and stupid! I was lucky that it didn’t rain too hard during the day. And there was no wind.
