That crate of lights is a bit disconcerting !
8 months agoOld men’s ties? How do you know the men were old, Barry? :) But, yes, no one young wears ties anymore, or at all. Clever use for a new “tied up a-TIRE” or..tyre, or..oh, forget it. :)
8 months agoGood deal on finally getting Seavo up and rolling once again! It's always challenging doing major repairs on a recumbent tandem and yours has a lot more specialized parts than ours.
8 months agoHello Torsten
We are staying at the home of a vrienden op de Fiets host in Hertogenbosch. It was great meeting a fellow recumbent rider on tour. The weather is suppose to improve on Sunday. We have had a very rainy and cold trip so far, so a change in the weather will be great.
Happy pedalling,
Barry and Mary Ellen
P.S. It turns out I already signed up for a Cycleblaze account somewhere in the past, but never used if. Whaddaya know...
8 months agoHello from Torsten the Cyberspace Cyclist! It was great to meet you today. Like I said, I continued to Liths, where there's no camping any more! Doom and gloom...
But the nice girls at the restaurant arranged for me to be let into the boat club's enclosure. So after hammering my tent pegs onto the "grass" by their boat slips, I've showered and am now back at the restaurant, enjoying a pizza and beer.
Where did you end up today?
/Torsten
Good that Seavo is roadworthy again.
I have a single bike with a Bafang midmotor and it certainly wears chains quickly and the extra pedalling power of a tandem would make the chain wear a lot quicker. As soon as the Rolloff sprocket shows signs of wear your friendly bike shop should reverse it so that the wear starts in the opposite direction.
Similarly when your chain rings show signs of wear replace them before your next long trip.
You are right. The problem was our bike was scheduled for repairs Covid hit and we haven’t been back in 5 years. We considered all, we thought, Rohloff and chainrings and somehow didn’t bring Bafang sprocket…won’t do that again.

8 months agoGood eye Karen. I missed that. Now I am trying to figure out what it says on the left one. Any thoughts?
8 months agoThank you for the fun, informative and inspiring tour! Hope Seavo gets fixed so you can rest your feet upon its pedals soon :)
