Except for the periodic intrusion of grape vines that area really does have a look similar to the western U.S., doesn't it?

Visually at least, that scrub looks a lot like central and eastern Oregon. I don't expect that it's actually the same biome, though.

The weather has been a phenomenon this year alright. We’ll into our eighth month and we still haven’t been tempted to break out our rain boots even once. Returning to Portland is going to be such a shock, in so many ways.

Sadly no interesting chairs or traffic cones, but probably too much to hope for. If I come across a basalt traffic cone you’ll be the first to know.
