Graham Smith commented on a photo in Day 56 - from one police station to the next

Ian this Tour d’ Police Stations reminds me of when my son Joe and I cycled around Taiwan. We discovered that many cop shops there are also set up with bicycle maintenance gear. It’s part of Taiwan’s concerted effort to encourage cycle tourism. We didn’t think to seek accommodation behind the thin blue line though.

John- what I find at least as disturbing is the deal between Australia, America and Indonesia to let them invade and to use US weapons. Where was the voice of the East Timorese? Unfortunately it was Gough sucked in to the fear of communism. The Indonesians knew how to deal with communists!

It churns my guts, even sitting thousands of kilometres away, thinking about all the torture sights. I can't imagine what it's like being there. It's absolutely heartbreaking pondering what people did to other people.

Jackie - I agree entirely. I could launch a huge discussion on this point. Why shouldn't we like a photo that changes the world regardless of how difficult it is to view?

Yes, good point. I'm keeping my normal journal so I have plenty of material.
