No, I don't think so. There was a germination bed - they're rather small. I think that the flags are to deter birds.
1 year agoJohn, all of your comments here just exemplify my point about garbage. Indonesia is extraordinarily beautiful but gets covered in garbage. Imagine the place before plastic.
1 year agoJohn, I'll accept your apologies. There's another John, a vet, who would be horrified if these shoes ever stepped foot in Australia.
1 year agoJohn, there's a simple answer - not enough! You should have seen the mildew around the stalks. I pressure sprayed them before washing them with bottled water, and then they weren't too bad.
1 year agoIan I’ll happily accept a pot of your inner north honey, but the real credit for finding interesting places such the mushroom restaurant and the Affendi Gallery belongs to Indonesian friends at University of Gadja Mada (UGM) who first helped me plan visit itineraries for the ARLF groups. Especially the Ag Faculty staff.
Another highlight was seeing the Mt Merapi eruption disaster recovery work which UGM played a major role in. That site would be a long, hard haul by bike though.
I'm glad you saw (and heard him) Ian
1 year agoIan, I think house roofing materials (and colour) are a matter for face to face discussion when you get back.
1 year agoYes Ian. It's a whole new mindset to take the photo first then do the necessary adjustments afterwards. I'm sure there'd be software (apps) out there to give better results than the phone's inbuilt program
1 year agoVery true Ian
1 year agoBack here they're telling us that Boomers are the only ones spending any money. I'm glad to see you doing your bit to fuel inflation Ian.
1 year agoRegarding an artist being satisfied with a work...
My dad was an artist, who despite great talent ended up being a teacher. He said that good enough is not good enough for an artist, only perfect is good enough... but perfect is not possible.
So it stands that artists are all frustrated. I really do understand, having dabbled in various media myself.
Daisy, it's all thanks to Graham. I just trusted his judgment. Ian
1 year agoDaisy, again interesting. It had we somewhat perplexed. Grass seems so much better in this environment. Did they use dirt to deter people????
1 year agoYes, how good is this fellow? Better still, he could play; his hands danced all over that instrument.

John, I couldn't help but watch; I couldn't fault his technique. He was at my guesthouse and it was nice that he was pestling for a purpose - the family meal, and not for tourists. My eyes pop out of my head wandering around here.
